Savo reimagines the office chair at 3daysofdesign

At this year’s 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, Savo finally places the office chair on the pedestal it deserves.

For too long, the design world has overlooked the office chair and its fundamental influence on our daily lives. To showcase its potential as a culturally relevant design object, Savo’s new exhibition The office chair reimagined explores how office seating can move beyond function and become a subject worthy of attention, critique, and conversation.

Presented as part of 3daysofdesign, the exhibition takes place at FRAMING across multiple rooms within Odd Fellow Palace – an 18th-century setting in the heart of Copenhagen.

Challenging conventional perceptions of office seating, Savo has tasked nine creatives – including architects, designers, and creative visionaries – to interpret the office chair through their own distinct lens. Each has been given carte blanche to reimagine Savo’s chairs with their choice of materials, colourways, and settings, transforming this undervalued staple into a design object in its own right.

Presenting the office chair reimagined by:

– ALICE MORBY – Design writer and editor

– AXEL BOMAN – Musician and producer

– CAN ARCHITECTS – Architecture studio

– CHRISTOPH KUEMMECKE – Creative consultant

– MAYA NJIE – Perfumer

– MORTEN NORDSTRØM – Photographer and filmmaker

– SARAH GOTTLIEB – Designer, art director, and host of The Sound of Colour podcast

– SHAWN ADAMS – Architect, writer, and lecturer

– STUDIO PLAYGROUND X ANTTI KALEVI – Strategy studio and publisher in collaboration with artist, illustrator, and surface designer Antti Kalevi

The Joi Room: seating in motion

Visitors are also invited into the Joi Room – a space dedicated to Savo Joi, one of the brand’s most playful and versatile seating options. Built around a tic-tac-toe-inspired layout, the room encourages visitors to sit, move, test, and interact with the chair in a casual and engaging setting. Games placed throughout the space reinforce the idea that office seating doesn’t need to feel static, overly technical, or impersonal. Instead, it can be a catalyst for movement, interaction, and play.

Reframing the perception of office seating

Alongside the exhibition, a new white paper explores the cultural perception of office seating. Backed by original data and expert insights, it investigates the visibility of office seating across design media, exhibitions, and fairs, and reveals the opportunity for it to achieve the same cultural status as other desirable design pieces.

Savo’s guided breakfast sessions

Kick off the day with fresh coffee and pastries from beloved local bakery Juno The Bakery, along with a guided tour of the exhibition.

Hosted daily between 10:00–10:45, the breakfast sessions offer a closer look at the custom-designed Savo chairs and the chance to meet some of the creatives behind their interpretations.

Visitors will also have the chance to explore the exhibition at a slower pace, experience the interactive Joi Room, browse highlights from Savo’s new white paper in their own time, and meet members of the team behind the project.
