Savo Spine was created around a simple idea: we feel better when we move. The latest Savo Spine builds on that idea, but responds more closely to how people actually sit and work today. More comfort without losing movement

Active sitting has always been central to Savo Spine.The original seat was deliberately compact, encouraging the sitter to change position and keep the legs and feet moving. But experience taught us something important: people don’t constantly change position simply because a chair allows them to. They find positions that feel good – and often stay there. So we evolved Savo Spine around that reality.

The seat has increased from Ø420 mm to Ø460 mm, giving the body more space and support. Softer cushioning improves comfort, particularly during longer periods of focused work. The mechanism has also been refined with gentler rocking resistance, responding more naturally to smaller changes in posture.

As Savo Range & Development Manager Andreas Mattisson explains: “Before, the idea was that you moved on the chair. Now, the chair moves with you.” The benefit is simple: you can sit comfortably without becoming static.

Movement that feels natural

Good ergonomic design shouldn’t constantly remind you that it is ergonomic. Savo Spine responds automatically to the sitter, allowing small changes in position to happen naturally throughout the day. There are fewer decisions to make, fewer adjustments to think about and less need to sit in one prescribed “correct” position. Instead, Savo Spine supports the body as it moves.

That reflects Savo’s wider approach to seating: creating products around the person rather than asking the person to adapt to the chair.

Better proportions across the whole family

Every model within the Savo Spine family has been considered individually. The low-back chair and stool now use a smaller base, creating a lighter visual footprint and proportions better suited to their scale. The high-back model retains its larger base, providing the additional stability needed for the taller backrest.

Across the range, new Ø55 mm casters are smaller and quieter, further refining both the appearance and everyday experience of the chair. Together, these changes make Savo Spine feel lighter, calmer and more resolved within the workspace.

Easier to refresh. Designed to stay in use.

A chair shouldn’t need replacing simply because its upholstery has become worn, damaged or no longer suits an interior. The updated Savo Spine introduces zippered upholstery on the seat and back, making fabrics easier to remove and replace. That gives customers more options over the life of the chair: refresh it, repair it, update its appearance or adapt it to a new environment.

It supports a simple principle through layer-by-layer design: keep the chair, change what needs changing. This approach reflects Savo’s broader commitment to circular design, modularity and extending product life rather than treating furniture as disposable.

Smarter from factory to workplace

The redesigned mechanism also simplifies assembly and enables Savo Spine to be transported in a more compact format. That means less transport volume and allows final assembly to happen closer to where the chair will actually be used.
